This workshop will explore Allied Health Professions (AHPs) which work out-and-about in community settings and play a vital role in treating, rehabilitating, and improving the everyday lives of patients, for example to:

  • help children flourish with educational or social development;
  • support people to overcome various barriers, whether caused by birth defects or through life-changing injuries;
  • assist the elderly to live full and comfortable lives.

These Allied Health Professionals change lives for the better, delivering individual and personalised support plans which look after patients’ emotional and mental health, as well as physical health needs.

We’ll help students to recognise the emotional and social skills required, as well as learning about qualification routes. They’ll hear direct from a range of AHPs delivering care in the community to tell us:

  • How they got into their job.
  • What a ‘day in the life’ is like.
  • Challenges and highlights of their role.
  • Things they wish they knew when they were younger!

Ahead of joining the session, educators will be able to access a resource sheet in the Google Classroom to undertake preliminary or post-workshop activities, enabling students to explore more about the various roles and come up with any questions they might like to pose to our speakers.
