European Metal Recycling (EMR) is a global leader in sustainable materials, recycling over 10 million tonnes of metals and plastics a year… that’s about the same weight as 1.5million elephants! We recycle everything from airpods to aircraft carriers!
EMR work with everyone from individual households to small business; and international firms to governments to ensure as much of our waste products as possible remain in the circular economy.
This second of two sessions with EMR will focus on roles in our operations and engineering teams as more and more we develop our green careers opportunities.
During the sessions you will:
– Be given an overview of the recycling sector and business.
– Find out and be able to chat current EMR apprentices to find out what its really like to work in this sector.
– Hear a talk from an expert from the business. Our MD for Technology and Innovation will outline some of the key challenges we face in our sector.
More importantly EMR want young people who care about the future of their planet to have a voice and shape the future of their organisation (after all you could be working with them in a few years!). At the end of this Discovery Session, students will be set the challenge of undertaking an environmental review of a typical EMR recycling depot as a follow up task. Students will be asked to further develop their work life skills by carrying out a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) Analysis and are asking YOU to directly report back to them any recommendation about what EMR can do to support their “Decade of Action” and Net Zero goal for 2040. This is your chance to influence and make real change… Our innovation team will select the best ideas and give a lucky group of students the chance to experience the feasibility of putting their idea into practice. Imagine how great this will look on future CVs and UCAS applications!
This is the second of two sessions available for you to attend, don’t worry if you can’t make both, remember every eco action helps! And if you are joining us for a second time to find out EVEN MORE about green careers at EMR then this will also be your opportunity to ask any further questions you may have following on from the first session and SWOT analysis.
