Acosia Nyanin

Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for England Professional and System Leadership, NHS England

 Acosia is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and has worked in mental health and social care services for 20 years, she is passionate about mental health and service delivery that is truly person centered.
 Acosia began her nursing career working in Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust where she was a team administrator before being persuaded to move into a clinical role. She took part in the NHS Leadership Academy’s programme for Black, Asian and minority ethnic leaders as well as the Nye Bevan programme.
 Her previous roles include Director of Quality (South region) and Professional Lead for Acute Mental Health and Addictions with Priory Group, and Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care at the Care Quality Commission.
 Acosia served as a member of SAGE’s hospital onset covid-19 working group, which has now become an advisory group within NHSE. She has written about the psychological impact of covid on NHS staff and argue mental health must not be seen as a “soft” issue.
 Before Acosia was appointed Regional Chief Nurse at NHS England in July 2021, she was the Chief Nursing Officer at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
