Alex Marsh is a multi award-winning entrepreneur and business leader in the banking & fintech sectors – most recently the recipient of the Best New Business Launch at the Corporate Entrepreneur Awards 2016 and back to back winner at The Lloyd’s Bank National Business Awards in 2017 & 2018.

Alex is the Senior Commercial Director at Klarna, the leading global payment provider and Europe’s highest valued private fintech company. Prior to this, he spent 10 years at Close Brothers, the UK merchant banking group, in a variety of leadership roles spanning strategy, projects, operations & finance – culminating in the role of Managing Director for Close Brothers Retail Finance – a disruptive & fast scaling UK consumer finance start-up. Alex successfully led the sale of Close Brothers Retail Finance to Klarna in January 2019.

Alex is a qualified Chartered Accountant having worked at PwC in London & Sydney. He holds an MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, having attended state schools in his home town of Brighton. As an experienced keynote and motivational speaker, he has presented and moderated at a number of industry events and educational institutions in the UK & Europe on a wide range of topics including careers advice, teamwork, leadership, fintech & banking.
From his own educational background and with parents who have both been teachers, Alex is hugely passionate about encouraging the benefits of education and personal development for young people. He acts as a Chair of Governors for a large comprehensive secondary school in Brighton and is a trustee & volunteer for a number of education related charities.

He also enjoys long-distance running, having participated in a large number of events across the globe and recently led a 5 person relay team to complete a 280km ultra-marathon around the South Coast of the UK.
