Having joined Ford Motor Company from school, I was fortunate enough to be sponsored through an engineering degree at Brunel University. Ford’s training programme was exceptional; I gained experience working in a wide range of engineering, project management and commercial roles. These experiences opened up many new opportunities and ultimately, I ended up leading Ford’s joint venture with Loughborough University where I also gained an MBA. Since leaving Ford in 2005 my work has been focused on education and consultancy which lead me to co-found GetMyFirstJob Ltd. I now lead this social enterprise making innovative use of technology to increase access to apprenticeships, traineeships and other work based learning. I remain a visiting lecturer of the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University, and am also a Non-Executive Director of NCFE, one of the UK’s largest Awarding Bodies and a Director Bishop Luffa – an Outstanding Church of England Secondary school in Chichester.
