I have worked in the newspaper industry for over 20 years and have been in publishing for around 25 years. I am the chief commercial officer at the Financial Times, with responsibility for our global revenue operations across advertising, circulation, customer services and digital subscriptions with a team of around 750 across the world. I am passionate about helping young people find their way in the news, media and advertising world, exciting them about the possibilities of a career in the industry, and helping them understand the importance of a sustainable, independent quality news industry to democracy and society. As a teenager I had no idea about what I wanted to do in my future, and arrived in the publishing business after a short career as a landscape gardener…!
