Non-Executive Director CReSTeD, Former Director of Dyslexia Trust
Mel has worked as a healthcare professional and educationalist for over 30 years mainly in the charity and public sectors. She now supports a number of charities in a non executive capacity including CReSTeD, the Council for the Registration of Schools Teaching Dyslexic Pupils.
Mel began her career as an acute care nurse working in Accident & Emergency and Intensive Care in a number of London Teaching Hospitals. When her children were assessed as dyslexic at primary school she made it her mission not only to support them but improve things for the wider community in schools and colleges. She went on to work with the leading dyslexia charities in the UK for nearly 20 years as a teacher, trainer, assessor, advisor, mediator and strategist. Mel lead the UK dyslexia community as Director of the Dyslexia Trust driving consensus messaging and national projects, achieving support from government and collaboratively developing resources for schools and parents.
