Dr Nikki King CBE

MD and Honorary Chairman, Isuzu Truck UK Limited

Dr Nikki King CBE, former MD and honorary Chairman of Isuzu Truck UK and Chairman of the Greenacre Academies Trust.
Inspirational, charismatic, supportive, empowering. Nikki King is an extraordinary woman and a legend in the male-dominated motor industry, where she has been garnered with numerous awards, including the honour of an OBE for services to the motor industry.
A part time secretary after raising her family, Nikki went back to work full time at the age of 40 when her husband left her and their children. Her career blossomed, not bad for a woman who left school with just 3 ‘O’ levels. In 1996 she set up Isuzu Truck UK and has since grown it into a multi million pound business.
She actively supports working mums, with over 50% of her senior management team being female. She is obsessive about her multi award-winning customer care provision and this ethos runs throughout the entire company.
Nikki is passionate about supporting and mentoring young people and is Chairman of the Greenacre Academies Trust as well as individually mentoring young people at Longfield Academy. She was also instrumental in the creation of the Recovery Industry Support Charity.
She has personally won numerous awards. She facilitated a complete buy out of Isuzu Truck UK by Isuzu Motors Japan, the third largest truck manufacturing company in the world. The benefits to her staff are enormous, providing them with a secure future and growth and opportunity for the company.
Nikki claims she will be retiring this year, but to all those who know her this is highly unlikely. Whatever she chooses to do next it will inevitably become as big and successful as Isuzu Truck UK.
Nikki is in constant demand in the media and is one of the few business leaders to be a panellist on BBC 1’s Question Time, as well as frequent appearances on Radio 4’s Any Questions, The Bottom Line and Woman’s Hour.
