Join our team at Newcastle Castle for our introduction to “Heritage” session where we answer the questions you need to know.
What is it, what size is the industry, what kind of sites are we talking about and do you need a History degree to work in heritage (the answer is definitely not btw!)
Through this insight day you will learn:
- About the different roles available in museums and historical sites.
- How does a museum and historical site operate?
- How can you start a career in heritage including hearing about;
- Management and Front of House: Covering the basics of running a visitor attraction, customer service skills and so on
- Retail: Museum shops, what do they sell and how does that relate to the site?
- Events: Cultural events, family events for school holidays, why do museums put on events?
- Marketing: Advertising your museum, digital and physical marketing as well as other methods
- Venue hire: Meeting room hire, weddings and so on
- Learning: Schools visits, workshops, outreach, informal learning
