Claire Hilton

Former Managing Director - Brand & Insight, Barclays

Claire Hilton is an experienced senior marketer having worked in blue chip companies across the financial and telecommunications sectors.

Having graduated with a Masters in Marketing with distinction from Kingston Business School, Claire started her career as a graduate intern with BT, working across consumer and business marketing and corporate communications. She was placed on the high talent list within her first year and went on to become part of the Wholesale Executive, spearheading the first B2B broadband campaigns. Claire was also heavily involved in the corporate communications around BT Cellnet’s IPO whilst being Chief of Staff to the Group Communications Director.

In 2003, Claire was headhunted by Barclays and joined as Head of Business Banking Marketing. She has held various roles at Barclays including Head of Brand, Head of Advertising and latterly Marketing Director, BUK. Claire appeared on the Ones to Watch list for Marketing in 2008 and her campaigns have won numerous industry awards including Commercial Radio Awards, European Diversity Awards, D&AD, Drum and Marketing. Claire has been instrumental in driving the purpose led campaigns over the last four years, including Digital Eagles, LifeSkills and Fraud at the centre of the brand communications and demonstration that purpose pays; these campaigns have driven up to 5 times more brand consideration than product led TV ads.

Specialising within Brand strategy and Marketing, Claire’s approach is centered upon a relentless focus on the customer, compelling brand ideas and quality creative. Claire is an active member of Women in Advertising & Communications London (WACL), sits on the Barclays UK Diversity and Inclusion Council and the ISBA Exec and is a member of the Marketing Society. She also mentors a number of young female talent within the industry.
