EU Referendum: Live Event & Talk Series | Speakers for Schools

Understanding the EU Referendum Impact: ‘What Now?’

In June and July 2016 Speakers for School’s annual talk series focussed on the results of the much debated EU Referendum. Our Speakers addressed the question ‘What Now?’ in the days and weeks following the vote.

Over 25 Speaker Ambassadors gave their time to the campaign through school talks, giving their expert views on the outcome, how it will affect the country, whilst tackling student questions on what this means for young people in the UK.

Those who took part in the campaign included, but was not limited to:

  • Sir Brendan Barber (Chairman of ACAS and former General Secretary of TUC)
  • Natalie Bennett (Leader, Green Party)
  • Yvette Cooper (MP, Normanton, Pontefract and Castleford)
  • Nick Clegg (MP, Sheffield Hallam and former Leader, Liberal Democrats)
  • Sir Christopher Hum (former UK Ambassador to China)
  • Professor Anand Menon (Director of UK in a Changing Europe & Professor of European Politics and Foreign Affairs at Kings College London)
  • Roland Rudd (Chairman, Business for New Europe)
  • Joe Twyman (Head of Political and Social Research, YouGov)
  • Kitty Ussher (MD, Tooley Street Research and former MP)
  • Sir David Warren (former UK Ambassador to Japan).

The campaign included a nationally-streamed panel debate ‘The EU Referendum: What Now?’, giving students a chance to hear directly from VIP speakers about the outcome of the vote.  The exclusive Post-EU Referendum ‘Question Time’, took place in partnership with the TES, was chaired by ITV’s Robert Peston. See the event here: Live Panel & Debate Video

The event featured a stellar panel including:
