Join our team at Newcastle Castle for our introduction to “Heritage” session where we answer the questions you need to know.

What is it, what size is the industry, what kind of sites are we talking about and do you need a History degree to work in heritage (the answer is definitely not btw!)

Through this insight session you will learn:

  • About the different roles available in museums and historical sites.
  • How does a museum and historical site operate?
  • How can you start a career in heritage?

We have an amazing team here at the Castle and will be able to cover some of these exciting roles;

1. Management and Front of House: Covering the basics of running a visitor attraction, customer service skills and so on

2.    Retail: Museum shops, what do they sell and how does that relate to the site?

3.    Events: Cultural events, family events for school holidays, why do museums put on events?

4.    Marketing: Advertising your museum, digital and physical marketing as well as other methods

5.    Venue hire: Meeting room hire, weddings and so on

6.    Learning: Schools visits, workshops, outreach, informal learning

We will be able to answer any questions too!

This insight session will also cover 'access to work' discussions for young people with special education needs, showing that regardless of what additional needs you may have you can still thrive in the work place.

All employers are required to make reasonable adjustments in the work place to enable inclusive access where possible.

Love history and wonder what career pathway you can take, register now.
