This opportunity is available exclusively to students attending school in Camden.
Many people think that Universities are just very large schools and all we do is teach undergraduate students. However, that is very far from the truth. The majority of the work that goes on in a University is research work that tries to understand the world as it is and how to make it better. The work experience programme in the Faculty of Life Sciences at UCL will expose you to the incredible range of research that we do that tries to understand the biological world from the microscopic through to the environment. At the end of the week, you will have a better understanding of the cutting edge of Biology research and have an opportunity to add to itβ
On each day, the students will be exposed to a different research institute within the UCL Faculty of Life Sciences:
Day 1 Division of Biosciences
Day 2 MRC Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology
Day 3 Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit and Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for Neuroscience and Behaviour- both in a building a 5 minute walk from the UCL Bloomsbury Campus
Day 4 UCL School of Pharmacy- a 15 minute walk from the UCL Bloomsbury Campus
Day 5 Faculty of Life Sciences UCL East Centre for People and Nature (Biodiversity) TBC. If this is not possible then the final day will be in the Division of Biosciences
The programme will consist of a mixture of workshops, seminars, laboratory equipment demonstrations and hands on laboratory skills.
