Think like a hacker – cyber security essentials! 1 day virtual insight (Leeds only)

Kainos recognise the vibrant tech talent in Leeds, and we’re delighted to exclusively offer students in the Leeds area, aged 14-19 a virtual insight into cyber security.

Have you ever wondered how secure your computer really is? Or how hackers manage to break into banks and hold companies to ransom?  

If you've ever had a curiosity for how things work, or wondered why we always hear in the news about cyber-attacks that have occurred, this is the event for you!  

This event will teach you the skills you need to start to become an ethical, white-hat hacker, someone who is allowed to legally hack into computers for good reasons, to prevent vulnerabilities and fix issues before they can be exploited. 

You don’t need any prior knowledge of cyber security, a small amount of programming experience is recommended but not necessary. To take part, all you need is your own computer, an internet connection and a set of headphones.   

During this one-day event, you will get to experience a taste of: 

• What cyber security is 
• How hackers break into a system 
• How to protect yourself, and your equipment from cyber attacks 
• How a cyber security engineer protects and secures a system 
• What tools and programs a cyber security engineer uses for hacking
