David Burke

David has been the Chief Executive of the London Philharmonic Orchestra since 2020, having previously spent 10 years as their General Manager and Finance Director.

David was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire and his career path has been simply focussed on pursuing two things he has a deep passion for – music and enabling organisations to achieve the best they can.  He studied at Royal Holloway, University of London where they created the first ever UK university degree in Music and Management for him, and subsequently gained an MBA from the Open University. 

After graduating he established his own company promoting chamber concerts, tours and festivals, before joining English Touring Opera as Director of Finance and Administration, where he produced and toured over 35 operas.  

David hobbies includes music, reading and travel – and longs walks with his wife and dog.
