City boss Andrew Law gives £6m to Sheffield University

Andrew Law, who is also chairman of Speakers for Schools, which arranges prominent visitors to state schools, has given £5.85 million to his alma mater. It will be used to widen access by encouraging teenagers from poorer areas to apply to university and will fund medical research into gene therapy. Pioneering employer and leading digital technology company Kainos is partnering with Speakers for Schools to offer an ambitious new virtual work experience programme for young people in Northern Ireland. Virtual work experiences connect young people with the world of work and open their minds to the possibility of a career in a sector they may not have considered.
