Brian Lightman

Brian Lightman was General Secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders from September 2010 – January 2016. This is a trade union representing more than 18000 school leaders. Brian is acknowledged as an authority on the English and Welsh education systems. Now as founder of his own company he has a wide ranging portfolio providing support for school improvement and leadership. His broad experience within the English and Welsh systems has included 2 headships, extensive representation on UK and Welsh Assembly Government committees, being an external examiner and an Estyn inspector. He serves on the boards of an academy trust and Schools of Tomorrow. As an expert on careers education Brian is strongly committed to helping young people to prepare and seize opportunities for their future working and personal lives.

In terms of content of a talk. I hope that, by showing how my own working life and the skills/qualities I have needed have changed and the lessons I have learned, I can provide some helpful pointers for their futures. Very flexible about what schools want and need.
