Rachel joined Northumbria Police in June 2017 as Assistant Chief Constable and is responsible for Citizens Focus which includes Custody, Criminal Justice and Safeguarding. Rachel was previously Head of Crime for Sussex Police and has specialised as a Detective during her career. Her portfolio included intelligence; organised crime; cyber and economic crime. Rachel is a Firearms and Public Order Commander; roles which she regularly undertakes operationally. She is Northumbria Police force lead for Equality and the Regional Chief Officer Lead for Vulnerability, Children and Young persons. Rachel is passionate about supporting difference in the workplace and has recently led a successful campaign to increase diversity in recruitment.
