Cargill is a multinational company with 155,000 employees working in 70 countries across the globe. Our purpose is to nourish the world in a safe, sustainable and responsible way. As one of the largest privately owned companies is often referred to as “the biggest company you’ve never heard of!”.
Cargill’s Manchester plant makes glucose syrups, gluten and alcohol for many well-known household brands in the confectionary, beverage, dairy and bakery sectors. We are located on Trafford Park with 170 employees working in a wide variety of roles required to transform our raw material wheat into a finished product to supply to our customers.
One of our passions is encouraging young people who enjoy STEM subjects to explore the different pathways available to begin a career with Cargill – which could be by joining straight from school via the apprenticeship route, taking an industrial placement or by joining as a university graduate. We are keen to dispel the myths of the food manufacturing industry and to break down barriers to achieve a diverse and inclusive workplace.
We are looking to inspire students who enjoy learning about science, math’s and technology and are keen to develop key transferable skills such as teamworking, problem solving and critical thinking. If you think this is something that your students would enjoy hearing about, then join Katrin (Technical Account Manager) and Kirsty (Resource, Efficiency and Sustainability Lead) to find out more to find out more about Cargill and the career opportunities available.
