Dr Adam Marshall CBE

Senior Advisor, HSBC, Non-Executive, UK Trade Remedies Authority & Former Director General, The British Chambers of Commerce

Adam Marshall is an experienced business leader and advocate, presently working in a range of portfolio roles. He is Senior Adviser at the Chartered Management Institute and HSBC UK, Specialist Partner at business advisory firm Flint Global, an advisory council member of UK cybersecurity firm Glasswall, and a non-executive director of the UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) and the Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT).

Adam served as Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce from March 2016 to March 2021, where he campaigned for the interests of UK businesses through the Brexit process and the Covid-19 pandemic. While DG, he also led the expansion of the BCC’s trade business and its Global Business Network.

Prior to joining the leadership team of the BCC in 2009, Adam helped to start up the Centre for Cities, and has a long track record of work on local and regional economic development. He holds a BA degree from Yale University and MPhil and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge.

Adam was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2021 for services to business.
