Ellie Orton OBE

Chief Executive Officer, NHS Charities Together

Ellie Orton has been Chief Executive of NHS Charities Together since July 2018. NHS Charities Together is the national charity caring for the NHS and membership body to all the UK’s NHS charities, 234 in total. Ellie led the charity’s award-winning Urgent Covid-19 Appeal in 2020 to support the wellbeing of NHS staff, patients and volunteers impacted by the pandemic, raising over £162million. Since then she has overseen the transformation of the charity so it can continue to support the NHS workforce in the long term. Previous to this Ellie has led youth work organisations, and worked in schools and community based projects in the UK and Southern African as Youth and Community Worker. Ellie is passionate about social change and the African philosophy of Ubuntu, which literally translates as ‘humanity’. She loves beaches, running, and her family, including her dog. She was proud to be awarded an OBE by the Queen in June 2021 for services to the NHS.
