Harjot has been a creative strategist for over 20 years. A true globalist, he has lived in 6 countries across 3 continents; working for some of the most famous brands and agencies in the world. He can also make himself understood in 6 languages. As Chief Strategy Officer for McCann Worldgroup in Europe and UK, Harjot leads strategy teams across 25 countries. Under his leadership, McCann Worldgroup has been ranked the most Creatively Effective Agency Network for 3 consecutive years in the Effies.
Over the last 2 decades Harjot has has held senior planning and leadership roles in North America, China, and Asia and worked on nearly every category from packaged goods to banking, retail, paints, telecom, tourism, cosmetics, credit cards and governments.
Harjot joined the global strategy team at McCann Worldgroup in New York, in January 2011 to run global strategy on General Mills brands. He was subsequently promoted and transferred to the EMEA head quarters in London in January 2015, where he is responsible for leading strategic planning across all McCann Worldgroup offices in the region, spanning 29 countries.
He plays a pivotal role in the leadership of Truth Central across Europe- McCann Worldgroup’s global thought leadership unit which provides original research that can help shape and grow clients’ businesses. Producing multiple studies a year, each covers 20+ markets to give clients a truly global view on a range of critical topics ranging from youth, privacy, mobile economy, beauty, family, wellness and shopping – to name a few.
Prior to joining McCann Worldgroup, and moving to North America, Harjot was head of Planning for BBDO China in Shanghai from 2003-2006. In North America, Harjot has held senior planning and leadership positions at Cossette Canada, Leo Burnett Canada and Grey Canada where he was Head of Planning for Canada.
