Liam Maxwell is the Director, Government Transformation for AWS. He leads the global AWS team of experienced head of government practitioners to help executive leaders adapt to new business models that meet citizens needs, take control of their technology and build sustainable world-class public services leveraging the cloud.
Liam is also Adjunct Professor in Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.

He has a background as CTO for the UK Government from 2012, delivering the major reforms that led to savings of over £6bn. He was subsequently National Technology Adviser, the most senior technology policy role, driving the growth in the digital economy and creating trade and intergovernmental partnerships. Prior to government and education he was an IT Director in FTSE and Fortune 500 business service companies.

From 2007-11 Liam was elected twice as a councillor and Cabinet Member for Policy at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Liam has a strong interest in education and is a founder of Holyport College, a Free School.
