Mr Keith Roberts

Consultant Liver Transplant, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

I was state schooled in North Wales; my father was a plumber and mother house wife. I trained in Cardiff and began working in 1999. I progressed through surgical training and on the way to my current job conducted a PhD (a role for iron in oesophageal cancer) and worked on local air ambulances for 5 years. I am now a full time NHS surgeon though I am also research active with grants of nearly 2 million pounds. Research I’ve led has improved pancreas cancer pathways – referenced in NICE guidance and All Party Parliamentary Group on Pancreatic cancer guidance. I have a wife who is a surgeon and two children, 8 and 6 years old.
