Architect & Director, Studio Multi

Nicola Rutt is an architect and Director of Studio Multi, a new architecture practice based in London and Amsterdam.
Qualifying in 2001, she spent 21 years helping build the business at architects HawkinsBrown, the last 10 of which were as a Partner of the business where she also led the workplace sector.
Her particular interest is in the adaptive reuse of existing buildings with her latest completed project being the award-winning refurbishment of the former press and broadcast centres at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to create a new tech campus. The main purpose of Here East is to bring together business, educational and cultural uses in the pursuit of innovation.
Current projects vary in scale but are all workplaces with the purpose of bringing people together in environments that promote collaboration and wellbeing.
Nicola was a finalist in Architect’s Journal W Awards for Excellence in Practice 2020, recognising women’s contribution to the architectural profession. She is also chair of the RIBA Awards Jury panel for the West Midlands and sits on the Strategic Advisory Board for TEDI, a new university enabling young people from diverse backgrounds to study Engineering.
