Rt Hon Nick Gibb

MP & Former Minister of State for School Standards

Nick was Minister for Schools from May 2010 to September 2012.

He was born in 1960. He was educated at Maidstone Grammar School; Roundhay School, Leeds; Thornes House School, Wakefield; and Durham University, where he achieved an honours degree in law. He is the author of numerous reports for public policy think tanks on tax reform and economics.

Nick was first elected to Parliament as the MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton in May 1997. In the same year, Nick was appointed to the Conservative Parliamentary Social Security Committee. In 1998 he was appointed Frontbench Spokesman on Treasury matters and from June 1999 to September 2001 he was Frontbench Spokesman on Trade and Industry. From May 2005 until May 2010 he served as Shadow Minister for Schools.

He was formerly a chartered accountant specialising in corporate taxation with KPMG.
