Criminal Barrister

I have worked as a barrister in the Criminal Justice System for over 20 years, and principally defend people accused of highly emotive and very serious violent and sexual offences. My cases frequently involve acutely vulnerable people, both as defendants and complainants. I teach other barristers how to question those witnesses who cannot cope with traditional forms of cross-examination, and I advise the Ministry of Justice on the national introduction of pre-recorded cross-examination of vulnerable witnesses.
I am the Wellbeing Director of the Criminal Bar Association, which is the professional ‘union’ for barristers practising Criminal Law. I also sit on various committees on the Bar Council, the representative body of the barristers’ profession.
I have written articles for The Guardian newspaper, about the impact of increasing cuts and privatisation on access to justice.
